Minimum Wage In Bangkok To Be Raised To 9,300 Baht Per Month

the-minimum-wagesThe Wage Committee announced the increase of minimum wage for Thai nationals by 10 Baht per day or 9,300 Baht per month for seven provinces including Bangkok, effective 1st January 2017.

The six other provinces concerned are Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Phuket. Another 62 provinces will see an increase of 5 to 8 Baht and 8 provinces will remain unchanged.

Wage Committee Chairman and Labor Ministry Permanent Secretary Puntharik Samiti declared the wage adjustment is in accordance with the Labor Protection Act and through the consideration of ten crucial factors including the cost of living, inflation, production cost, labor productivity, and national GDP.

The Wage Committee will submit the new minimum wage rates for 2017 to the Labor Minister before submitting them for Cabinet consideration.
